The Role of MSSPs in Bridging the Skills Gap

Managed security services providers are playing an important role in helping organizations cope with hiring challenges and meet regulatory compliance requirements, says Kartik Shahani, director of channels for APJ at RSA.

"There is a big dearth of security professionals today, and it becomes extremely difficult for an organization to invest in IT, get the right people to manage it for them and to have that level of assurance that meets the compliance requirements," Shahani says in an interview with Information Security Media Group.

"By using an MSSP that has a set of professionals who do this day in day out, you are actually ensuring your company at least of [meeting] certain timelines that are required to respond [to regulatory requirements]."

In this interview (see audio link below photo), Shahani discusses:

  • How MSSPs are enhancing their accountability;
  • Bridging the skills gap through the use of MSSPs;
  • Taking a business-driven security approach.

Shahani, director of channels for APJ at RSA, joined the company from IBM, where he led the integrated security business for India and South Asia. He formerly held senior positions at McAfee India Sales Pvt. Ltd. and Netmagic.
