Increased digitisation and adoption of digital banking channels have led to a sharp increase in incidents of mobile fraud, enhancing the challenges for the CISOs in securing these transactions, says Subhash Subramaniam, CISO of ICICI Bank.

In an interview at Information Security Media Group's recent New Delhi Fraud and Breach Prevention Summit, Subramaniam discusses:

  • Leveraging a comprehensive cybersecurity policy;
  • Establishing three lines of defence for better security;
  • Relevance of mobile security in the digitized environment.

Subramanian is the Chief Information Security Officer for ICICI Bank and the entire group.

He brings over 22 years of rich and diverse experience in banking, technology, risk management and cyber security. He started career with National Stock Exchange (NSE) and was part of core team which built and rolled out India's first electronic exchange trading platform. Post this he had an entrepreneurial stint and founded a software development company specializing in web applications, e-commerce portals and eLearning solutions. He scaled this business up with development centers in Mumbai & Pune and clients spread across the world, and sold off the business to strategic investors and divested his stake in 2004. Subramanian joined ICICI Bank in 2004, led and managed large teams in various functions including technology, treasury operations, risk management and information security.
