This dual challenge has emerged as a critical concern for cybersecurity leaders racing to adopt AI technologies.
The complexity of securing AI systems goes beyond traditional cybersecurity approaches, requiring organizations to fundamentally rethink their security strategies. While AI offers powerful capabilities for threat detection and response, it also introduces new vulnerabilities that could be exploited by threat actors.
"There are two facets to the challenge. One is AI for cybersecurity, which is where AI is empowering augmentation, automation and analytics for all good things in security from a threat detection response perspective. The second very important facet is cybersecurity for AI itself because a lot of data is being amassed by organizations for the right purposes," said Ashish Thapar, vice president and head of cybersecurity for Asia Pacific at NTT DATA.
