The acquisition aims to broaden Cohesity's customer base, reaching 90% of Fortune 100 firms, while offering a seamless transition for Veritas customers, according to Poonen. The San Jose, Ca.-based company said integrating AI into its offerings through a partnership with Nvidia will give clients enhanced capabilities for data analysis and protection, enabling them to stay ahead of cyberthreats (see: Cohesity Is Set to Acquire Veritas' Data Protection Business).
"We think about our mission as protecting the world's data and then providing insights into the world's data," Poonen said. "The key aspect of data today that customers are trying to assess is data liability, which is how do you ensure that you keep that data safe and resilient in a cyberattack? Once you've kept it safe, you want the gas pedal, and that's where AI allows you to bring insights into the data."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Poonen also discussed:
- How the Veritas acquisition will create a formidable data protection entity;
- The role of AI in transforming data from a liability to an asset;
- Cohesity's roadmap for becoming a publicly traded company.
