One of the most important priorities for a CISO is having a place at the table with the board of executives, says John Petrie, global CISO at NTT Security. "It's very helpful to have interaction with the board so when things like budgeting or things like how you're going to change your programming come up, they are attuned to what you're talking about," he says.

Petrie is an experienced senior executive, consultant, board member and thought leader with more than 26 years of information security experience. He serves as the global CISO for NTT Security Corp., where he's responsible for global information security strategy.
